I will preface the following by stating that I am not great at shooting videos (yet) and this was shot hastily with my phone and a free video editing program with a watermark.
Ok, I was pretty darn excited to try this “color”. Back in February I saw the Instagram video by @theunseenalchemist that showed color changing hair https://www.instagram.com/p/BQnYPrnAV0j/.
I was very excited and wanted to know more but never really got around to actually finding out more. I followed and kept up but never learned anything about it. That’s art!

Pravana drops this major bomb about the color changing hair color and I was on it. I saw the videos and got as much info as possible.
It was to be released on Sept 1st. I ordered it from Salon Centric at around 10 pm August 31st and received it this morning Sept 2nd. I was eager to play around with it.
Today I wasn’t that busy with clients so I experimented first with the instructions included with the “color”, then I used the pigment with a mixture of conditioner and water and a spray bottle.
Then I used the pigment with just water. The results are in the video.

I have to say that I think this product was ridiculously hyped. Most people think it is actual hair color.
If you read the comments on Instagram and other places everyone seems to be misled about what this product is. Most people don’t understand exactly what is involved and I think that is a lack of clarification on Pravana’s part.
It was loosely marketed as hair color when it is actually a temporary color in the same category as color hair spray.
I feel like a lot of people are going to be disappointed by this product. It can be fun though, don’t get me wrong. I’m sure a lot of people will do some interesting things with this.
I’m excited to see what happens.

I hope Lauren Bowker received some sort of compensation or recognition for being the originator of using thermal dust on hair and showing it to the public.
I have found a website that sells the powder with many more color options! I might order some and play around. I remember seeing it initially used in nail art, now here we are 🙂

In conclusion, go get a kit and play around with it but don’t expect anything earth shattering.
